What does it mean to romanticize your life

Romanticizing your life is all about finding small ways to make the ordinary feels extraordinary. It’s about enjoying the present moment, appreciating life, and seeing things with new eyes.

Because when we’re kids, life feels magical and precious. But then, as we grow up, we forget to carry with us that playfulness and innocence that helped us turn everything into a game.

This summer, I want you to bring back into your life a bit more of that childish spirit – because you deserve to live a great summer! You deserve to love your life, every day.

15 Ways to Romanticize Your Life This Summer

How to romanticize your life this summer

1. “Do it outside” rule

Take advantage of the sunny and warm weather and try to spend as much time as possible outdoors.

Before you roll your eyes thinking “That sounds great but I’ve got things to do”, let me ask you: is there a way you can be productive and get things done, but outside?

For example, consider:

  • Answering your emails from the patio
  • Studying at the park
  • Taking an important call while on a walk
  • Doing outdoor workouts
  • Eating breakfast on your balcony

Almost anything can be done outside. This is your sign to take your to-do list out of the door, with you.

2. Make a summer playlist

There are some songs that just scream SUMMER. So, why don’t you put them all in a playlist?

For me, a good summer playlist contains songs that are trending now but also those I used to listen to back in the days and that bring back my childhood dreams.

My 3 go-to summer songs are: Summer Paradise by Simple Plan, Despacito by Luis Fonso, and Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido by Karol G.

What’s on your summer playlist?

3. Create a summer vision board

Whether you want to do this on Pinterest or on cardboard, creating a vision board is the perfect way to enter the summer season!

What do you want to manifest this summer? Do you picture yourself drinking Aperol Spritz on a city terrace, or eating fresh fruit while tanning at the beach? (Or maybe both?)

4. Have a summer watch list

I know I’m not the only one waiting for season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty, right? 😉 (Let me know in the comments if you’re team Jellyfish or Bonrad)

There are so many movies and shows out there who portray the perfect summer vibes! If you’re short on inspiration, here are some of my favorites:

  • The O.C.
  • Outer Banks
  • TSITP
  • The Last Song
  • Call Me By Your Name

What’s on your summer watch list?

5. Create a summer bucket list

Another list you need for the new season is a summer bucket list. Seriously, how do you want to spend those sunny days?

Some of my favorite summer activities you can add to your bucket list are:

  • Going for a nighttime swim
  • Stargazing
  • Having a picnic at the beach during sunset
  • Meditating outdoors
  • Taking sunrise yoga classes

6. Do creative hobbies

Summer is the easiest time of the year to carve some free time to spend on your hobbies. If you don’t know what to try, start by asking yourself these 3 simple questions:

  • When I was a kid, what things did I enjoy doing the most?
  • What’s one thing I’ve always wanted to try?
  • What sounds fun and exciting right now?

7. Set the vibe for summer

What’s your word for this summer? What’s the mantra you want to live by? Set an intention for summer and decide what’s the vibe you’re going for.

Here are some word ideas for summer:

  • Peace
  • Fun
  • Travel
  • Adventure
  • Connection
  • Relax

Mine is fun! What’s yours?

8. Make a summer TBR list

Summer is the perfect time to get some more reading in. So, what will be your summer read?

Do you love diving into a mystery or fascinating thriller, or do you prefer romance?

It can be easy and simple to squeeze in some more reading this summer. Just make sure to:

  • Bring your book to the beach
  • Always have a book on your nightstand
  • Read a few pages as you drink your coffee

Invest your extra time wisely instead of wasting it away…

9. Find your favorite drink

Here’s a fun challenge: try as many summer drinks as you’d like until you find your favorite one. (Warning: You could get very drunk!)

If you’ve ditched alcohol, though, no problem – what’s your favorite mocktail? Do you prefer something sweet and fruity, or strong and punchy?

10. Create your summer ritual

Anything can become a ritual, if you only put intention into it.

This summer, consider turning any mundane gesture into a ritual, such as:

  • Sipping your coffee, tea, or matcha quietly
  • Preparing a nice meal
  • Going on a hot girl walk
  • Doing an everything shower
  • Reading before bed

Make the ordinary feel special by simply being more intentional with what you do.

How to Romanticize Your Summer

11. Organize a picnic

Whether you want to do this at the beach or at your local park, this is your sign to call your besties and organize a cute picnic.

Picture this: cheese board, fresh strawberries, mimosas (or lemonade), and just good vibes. So fun!

12. Collect seashells

I’m sure you did it as a kid: pick up the most beautiful seashells while walking on the beach. Perhaps you even used them to make cute bracelets or necklaces. (Guilty!)

Well, the magic is still there.

Next time you go for a walk at the beach, get lost in finding the most unique seashells. Keep them as a memory, put them in a jar, or use them to make cute jewellery – it’s up to you!

13. Take yourself on a solo date

You can romanticize your life this summer by taking yourself on a cute solo date.

Whether you want to try a new café, go to the farmers market, or have a picnic at the beach – who said you can’t do it alone?

Bring a book or your journal, and allow yourself to be present.

14. Have a daily dance-party

No, I’m not saying you should hit the club every night. What I want you to do is to have a quick dance-party, in your room, before you leave the house. (Yes, every day)

It’s such a good mood booster – give it a try!

Blast your favorite song, sing along, and dance like nobody’s watching. Then, step out of that door carrying a brand-new energy 😉

15. Try one new thing

Whether it’s a new ice-cream flavor, a workout class, or a local café, commit to trying at least one new thing this summer.

I mean, routine is nice…until it gets boring. Don’t let that happen – add some novelty in your day!
