How you start your day affects how you live the rest of it. If you don’t know how to start crafting the perfect routine, here’s a 3-step framework to help you stick to a simple yet effective morning routine to boost your daily productivity! 😉

Morning routines are hyped up, and there’s a good reason for it. It’s not a coincidence that most successful people swear by their morning routines.

If you want to improve your life, start by following the right wake-up ritual. The best part? You can design your own!

So, what are you still waiting for? Are you ready to create a simple morning routine, tailored to you and your needs, and that will boost your productivity? Then, let’s get started!

Step 1: Identify your ‘why’

It might not come as a surprise that the first step to designing a successful morning routine is clarifying your ‘why’.

Not everyone desires to wake up early – or, at least, not everyone is seriously committed to it. So, what’s your reason?

Why do you have the goal of waking up early? What are you trying to accomplish?

Is it just because you’ve realized you’ll get many more things done if you have one extra hour in the day?

Is it because you finally want to work on your goal of launching a blog, and the morning would be the perfect time to just do it?

Or, is it just because you want to fill your cup before dealing with the outside world?

Everyone has a different reason why they want to wake up earlier. What is your prerogative?

Make sure to identify your ‘why’ first thing, or else you’ll set a 5 a.m. alarm without knowing what to do with that spare time. (Guess what? You’ll end up hitting the snooze button…)

On the other hand, if you have a clear objective in mind, you’ll be able to hold onto that goal even – and especially – when things get hard and the last thing you want to do is get out of your cozy bed.

What is your ‘why’? Summarize it in a sentence – and let me know in the comments! 🙂

📌 SHORT ON TIME? PIN IT FOR LATER! 📌

A Simple and Productive Morning Routine

Step 2: Define your non-negotiables

Some people have the flexibility and freedom to create a 3-hour-long morning routine. Unfortunately, that’s not the case for many.

I mean, if you have early classes or must be at your office before 9 a.m., a 10-step morning routine is not doable. It will only make you dread the whole process.

Here’s the good news: you can keep your morning routine sweet and short, and still benefit from it!

But, to keep it practical, you must first identify your non-negotiables.

Keep it anywhere from 3 to 5 non-negotiables. The fewer, the better.

Your non-negotiables will obviously be linked to your ‘why’.

For example, if the reason why you want to wake up early is to be more productive during the day, your morning routine could include the following steps:

  • Don’t look at your phone first thing
  • Get some movement in (a walk, a run, a workout)
  • Plan the day ahead

If your ‘why’ is finally launching your blog or online business, your non-negotiables will be:

  • Creating a distraction-free work environment
  • Working on your project for 90 minutes straight
  • Learning something new

Or, if you want to use the morning to get some extra ‘me time’ and take care of yourself, your non-negotiables might be:

  • Meditating
  • Reading
  • Journaling

Step 3: Start gradually & be ready to adapt

The final step to creating a simple and productive morning routine is to start implementing it slowly.

What does it mean? If you’ve been used to waking up at 8 a.m., you cannot expect to wake up at 6 a.m. starting tomorrow.

You must take it slowly. For example, aim to wake up earlier by sticking to 15-minute intervals. In this way, you allow your body to adjust to an earlier wake-up time naturally.

Doing this will prevent you from feeling cranky and sluggish for the rest of the day.

You’re still making progress, but at a slower speed. In this way, though, you’re actually setting yourself up for long-lasting change and success.

Be aware: following this 15-minute intervals rule means you’ll have to shrink your non-negotiables for a bit.

At first, you might have to choose one of your non-negotiables and do it only for 15 minutes. Or, you could opt to do a shorter version of each.

The best part about having a simple morning routine is that it’s easy to tweak it.

If you try something and realize it doesn’t sit well with you, feel free to get rid of it any time. By removing what’s not serving you, you’re making space for something better.

Be intentional with how you spend your time, especially in the morning.

Conclusion

That’s all from me today!

You’ve probably been overwhelmed by the amount of information around morning routines.

Online, you see everyone promoting their 10-step morning routines, or waking up at unsustainable hours only to follow their ‘healthy’ habits, while actually being so sleep-deprived. (Isn’t that so counteractive?)

This was your reminder that you can create something simple, made only of a couple few steps, and still get many benefits from it.

The truth is that, if you find a simple morning routine that can get your day started on the right foot, you’ll end up naturally boosting your productivity (without directly doing anything about it)! 😉

Find what works for you. Forget about what the rest is doing.
