📌 SHORT ON TIME? PIN IT FOR LATER! 📌

1. They naturally wake up early
They get a head start on the day, waking up bright and early while the rest of the world is still fast asleep.
For some, it’s not even a struggle – like Arianna Huffington, who doesn’t need an alarm clock to jump out of her bed.
Why early mornings are crucial?
When the world is still dreaming, you’ve got the chance to wake up and make your dreams come true.
Waking up early allows you to get some extra hours of deep, uninterrupted, focused time on your projects, goals, and aspirations.
If you have a goal you want to achieve but never seem to find the time to work on it, those early mornings might do the trick for you 😉

2. They engage in self-reflection
If there’s a common thread among successful people, it’s that they don’t let the outside world creep in first thing in the morning.
Before taking on their businesses, projects, or meetings, they spend time looking inward.
Self-reflection is different for everyone – it could mean meditating, journaling, praying, or simply sitting quietly enjoying the stillness of the moment.
Why self-reflection is important?
Have you ever felt like you’re running and running but never really moving forward?
That’s what happens when you don’t allow time for self-reflection.
Start your days with clarity and intention by picking up one small habit that can help you feel centred and at peace.

3. They get their bodies moving
From Jennifer Aniston’s calming yoga flow to Tim Cook’s intense weightlifting sessions, movement is a non-negotiable for many successful people.
Whether it’s a quick HIIT session, a long morning walk, or a gentle stretch, the important thing is to get the body moving.
Why is it better to exercise in the morning?
Let’s say this – if you commit to exercising first thing in the morning you will:
- Instantly feel more awake, as you get your blood flowing
- Have more energy throughout the day
- Be able to focus better
- Start your day with a small win
- Feel better about yourself (hey, endorphins!)
How to make exercising easier?
Yet alone is hard to get out of bed, but doing so to exercise? Well, it’s not impossible as you might think 😉
If you want to start exercising in the morning, try:
- Laying out your workout clothes the night before (preferably next to your bed)
- Planning out exactly what kind of movement you’ll do
- Starting with short, low-impact workouts
- Convincing a friend to do it with you
4. They meditate
If meditation is a common practice even among some of the world’s busiest people, I’m sure you can find some time to try this habit too.
Oprah Winfrey and Tony Robbins both consider meditation an essential part of their morning rituals.
Robbins even combines it with breathwork and visualization techniques.
How to start meditating?
If you’ve never engaged in such practice, I recommend you to start slowly but show consistency.
Even 5 minutes a day can do wonders!
My advice is to start by following a guided meditation on YouTube, or with an app like Calm or Headspace.

5. They read and focus on learning
From Warren Buffett to Bill Gates, many successful people feed their minds before even checking their inboxes.
Dedicating uninterrupted time to reading and learning is a keystone habit in their morning routines.
How to start reading more?
The trick is to make reading easier.
For example, you could:
- Place a book on your nightstand
- Carry a book whenever you run errands
- Sign up for (or start) a book club
- Try apps like Headway for fast & on-the-go learning
6. They set their priorities
Successful people don’t let others rule their day.
They understand that time is the most important resource, and they don’t want to waste it.
So, while most of us get distracted by trending videos or pointless drama, they keep their focus on what moves them closer to their goals.
It’s not that they have more time in a day to get things done – we all get the same 24 hours! What changes is where they put their focus.
Highly important people know how to make the most of their time because they have their priorities straight.
How to set your priorities?
If you want to do things that really move the needle rather than just keep yourself busy, try this exercise:
- Every morning, write down your top 3 priorities for the day
- Define how much time each will take
- Tackle your top 3 priorities before taking on any other responsibility or task
7. They stay away from technology
What is the first thing you do in the morning? If your answer is “checking the phone,” you’re not alone.
But, unlike you, highly successful people avoid this trap – like Arianna Huffington, who starts her mornings without screens and focusing instead on breathwork and self-reflection.
How can you break your phone addiction?
- Identify your triggers
- Set app limits
- Lock your phone when you must focus
- Do an occasional digital detox
- Charge your phone out of the bedroom

8. They practice gratitude
Gratitude isn’t something they start practicing once they became successful – it’s probably part of how they got there.
From Oprah Winfrey to Eckhart Tolle, highly successful people have one thing in common: they all practice gratitude.
Tim Ferriss, for example, starts his day with a morning gratitude journaling session to have a more positive mindset.
They know it and you must embrace this truth too – the secret is to be grateful all along the way, not only once you reach the destination.
Why is being grateful important?
Research shows that feelings of gratitude:
- Improve your wellbeing
- Boost your happiness
- Lower your stress levels
- Improve resilience
- Help you handle challenges better
9. They tackle the most important task first
“Someday” is where your dreams die.
“Later” is where your projects and ideas get buried by a pile of tasks, responsibilities, and to-dos.
That’s why successful people all tackle the most important task first thing in the morning.
For authors, that’s writing. For entrepreneurs, that’s making important business decisions.
And for you, what is it?
Why should you “eat the frog first”?
In his book, Brian Tracy explains the concept of “eating the frog first” – meaning doing the most important task first.
Why? Because if you do so, everything else will seem a piece of cake!
So, starting tomorrow, I want you to start each day by identifying and completing your most important – and at times difficult – task.
That’s the only way to make real progress.
10. They prioritise sleep
You might think that they must be running low on sleep to follow all these rituals, but that’s not true!
All successful people know that getting enough sleep is a crucial element in their success, or else they won’t have enough energy for their morning habits!
So, if even Jeff Bezos manages to get 8 hours of sleep every night – I’m sure you can do it too.
How to go to sleep earlier?
The trick here is to create the perfect nighttime routine to get you ready for bed on time. Consider:
- Lighting up some candles
- Reading a book before bed
- Journaling about your day
- Sipping on a hot tea
- Taking a relaxing bath or shower

Ok love this read!!
I didn’t know Jeff Bezos would be the same type of morning person I am. Except I can’t go to bed early, and I don’t need to drive to Amazon hq. But everything else checks out
Hahaha, love this!
Isn’t it nice to know that even Jeff Bezos is more “chill” than we thought? They’re not superhumans, they’re just like us! 🙂
This is an interesting read. I am continuously revising my morning routine. I especially appreciated hearing about Tony Robins…his name keeps popping up for me recently.
Take it as a sign from the Universe then 🙂
And I feel you: I always make some adjustments to my morning routine – that’s also the fun part of having one 🙂
I wish I could learn to be a morning person. I’m much more a night owl. But I do have a good routine once I am up out of bed. So I guess its something.
Yes, it’s definitely something!
In the post “6 Shocking Productivity Myths that hold you back”, I shared that one of the most common mistakes we make is thinking that only people waking up at 5 AM can be successful.
For sure, waking up earlier gives you more time BUT if it doesn’t work for you – just let it go!
Work longer in the nighttime and be proud of yourself for still having a morning routine (no matter if yours starts at 11 AM)! 🙂
Struggling with better morning routine!!
This reminder will now puch to act on at least one thing.
😍🥂
That’s great to hear!
One small change is all you need 🙂
