DAILY ROUTINE OF A FULL-TIME BLOGGER
If you’re pursuing a career online, you’re probably doing it because you crave the freedom and independence that a 9-5 can’t provide.
One of the perks of being a blogger is that you can start and end your day whenever you want – am I right?
Well, that’s a perk only if you aren’t an addicted workaholic or have the worst productivity techniques…

MORNING IN THE LIFE
In the morning, if you have the privilege of working from home and for yourself, you’ll have lots of flexibility.
- if you’re an early riser you might decide to wake up at 6 AM to hit the gym and start your work day at 9 AM sharp
- if you’re more of a night owl, you could be rolling out of bed only past 10 AM, only to start working around noon
After waking up and following your morning routine (if you have any), it’s time to clock in to work!
DAILY TASKS OF A SUCCESSFUL BLOGGER
Successful bloggers know what they should invest in and where they shouldn’t waste their time.
The tasks you should prioritize to grow your blog are high ROI tasks, meaning that your effort will pay off.
What are some of the highest ROI blogging tasks?
- Writing new articles for your blog
- Replying to comments
- Investing in a good Pinterest marketing strategy
- Creating your opt-in offer
- Writing content for your newsletter
- Engaging with your audience
Blogging involves a wide range of tasks, but not all of them will have the same weight on your success.
Obviously, what you focus on will also change depending on what stage of the blogging journey you are in.
For example, if you haven’t launched your blog, you’ll better gain the right knowledge before diving into blogging.

If you’re in the initial stages, you might focus more on writing a few pieces of good content and marketing strategies to create more awareness in your ideal audience.
On the other hand, if you’re already a seasoned blogger, you will work harder on maintaining a connection with your subscribers and offering them your products and services.
AFTERNOON IN THE LIFE
Having the flexibility to work independently, and deciding both when to start and stop working are probably the hardest things to do as a self-employed.
One technique that all bloggers should swear by is to never “clock out” before ensuring that they’re set up for success the next day.
To avoid any additional stress, it is always a good idea to end whatever was started.
You are the boss of yourself. Own it.
You have the responsibility to run your business the way you want. You are the one putting in the effort.
Don’t expect to see incredible results if you’re not willing to put in barely any effort. (It seems obvious, yet it’s easy to forget it)
To be a successful blogger, you need to be super organized in order to make your business grow, but also to ensure you have a social life, while also taking care of yourself.

A TYPICAL WEEK AS A BLOGGER
Task batching is the holy grail of time management techniques for all bloggers (and not only)!
What is task batching?
It involves scheduling specific slots of time to get done a bunch of tasks that are the same – or similar -, instead of spreading them out in time.
In this way, you’ll get more done in less time! (WONDERFUL, isn’t it?)
So, by using this strategy, let’s see together what a typical week in the life of a successful blogger would look like.
MONDAY
On Monday, the focus is on writing content.
After all, that’s one of the most important things all bloggers do, right?
So, with the tasks batching technique – your Mondays could look something like this:
- Writing weekly newsletter(s)
- Writing article(s)
- Writing Pinterest descriptions
- Writing Instagram captions
- Writing content for your next course or service
TUESDAY
Tuesdays are for content creation.
For example, they could involve:
- Creating visually appealing Pins
- Crafting the visuals for your blog articles
- Filming the week’s Instagram stories
- Shooting content for your social media channels
- Designing infographics for your freebie
WEDNESDAY
All bloggers would be nowhere without their audience.
Your readers are the most important aspect of blogging. Therefore, your ideal reader should always be in the back of your mind whenever you do something.
Consequently, it is essential to build and maintain a great relationship with your readers. That involves:
- Answering to comments
- Replying to emails promptly
- Interacting with readers on social media
- Staying in touch with your audience through email
- Making sure your readers feel heard and seen
THURSDAY
Another thing a successful blogger knows and therefore makes sure it’s part of daily life is constantly learning.
Blogging has a never-ending learning curve.
Social media adopts different and new algorithms every now and then.
New tricks to rank higher on Google are released.
Brand new platforms to nurture relationships are created.
So, if you want to be a successful blogger, you need to make sure you stay on top of the blogging game by making learning one of your weekly habits.
Here are some ways to learn more about blogging:
- Enroll in different courses that are specific to one area of blogging
- Read others’ blog posts
- Reach out to more seasoned bloggers
- Use social media actively, not passively
FRIDAY
The end of the week is a good time to do anything that didn’t get done earlier and to prepare for the week ahead.
Some tasks you could batch are:
- Scheduling new Pins
- Planning Instagram posts
- Being active on Facebook communities
- Catching up on new emails or comments
- Editing blog articles, to make sure they’re ready to be published
WEEKEND
Finally, it’s the weekend!
Hopefully, though, you’ve decided to start this blogging journey because you’re trying to create a life you don’t want to escape from.
Use the weekend to your advantage, to create a life you don’t need a break or vacation from.
It’s important to rest, practice self-care, and be social – so the weekend is the perfect time to do it!
Maybe, instead of working hours on your blog, on the weekend you could just do some small tasks that require only a couple of minutes.
For example:
- Checking the emails
- Promoting your blog on Facebook
- Pinning a new post
- Answering a comment
As you can see, blogging requires hard work, but with effort, time, and a pinch of strategy, you have all it takes to become a successful blogger!
Did this post motivate you enough to keep working on your blog? I hope so!

Until next time,
I’m one of those night owls, so my day usually starts when I get up around 10 AM. I do most of the points you mention in the post, but don’t have any strict rules. When something feels too hard for the moment, I do something else instead, and then go back when I feel more motivated. Thanks for sharing this useful post!
I love the flexible mindset you have – for sure it wouldn’t be easy to adopt for everyone 🙂 Great job!
Love task batching and creating themes for my day! Great post 🙂
Thank you so much 🙂
This is super helpful! There are days that I get stuck in a rut, saving this for those days!
I hope it can help! 🙂
Ahh if only I had the non depression to do any of these things. I try to post every week but 90% of the time I can’t
I’m so sorry to hear this. I’m sending you a big, big hug <3 I'm here if you need any advice, support, or just a shoulder to cry on. I promise it will get better <3
Focus on the 10% of the times that you get it done, because that's still amazing progress!
Ha ha, interesting article. I never make my schedule but after reading your article I’m thinking to make one for a better weekly plan.😊
I’m glad I gave you the right motivation! 🙂
I’ve batched tasks before but I like the idea of focusing an entire day on a certain type of task. I think that will increase productivity even more. Great tips!
Let me know how it goes! 🙂
I love this post about an ideal day for a blogger! Great tips about grouping tasks together and themed days. I look forward to reading more articles!
Thank you for stopping by!
Awesome post! I’ve taken a page from your book to give these days a try. MY blog is only 4 days old but I do have big plans for it. You’re blog is great I’m a new follower.
Thank you so much, I’m so happy you’re part of the community! <3
Could I ask you what book are you referring to? 🙂 Do you mean the "Blogging Plan" workbook? If yes, that's great to hear!
I'm sure you have all it takes to become a successful blogger <3 Keep up the good work and let me know if I can help you with anything 🙂
I used to have a weekly plan for blogging and social media but was never able to stick to it. What works for me is only doing things like 4 times a week rather then 7
4 times out of 7 is great! Be proud of yourself for the progress 🙂
It’s always best to start small and build your way up rather than wanting to be everywhere and end up being nowhere. You got this!
Good ideas and very organized!
Thank you!
I admire how you balance your blogging tasks with your personal and family life. You have a very organized and productive routine that helps you achieve your goals and stay motivated. I also love how you make time for self-care and fun activities that nourish your mind, body and soul. I’m glad you are living your dream life as a blogger and a mom.
Thank you! I try my best to stay on top of things – but, I’m not a mom! Haha
Loved reading this post. I agree that task batching is the best way to get done many things in a small amount of time. Awesome read!
I’m glad you found it helpful 🙂
