1. Journaling
Journaling is a low-effort but high-impact hobby.
All you need is a notebook, a pen, and your thoughts! You can:
- Reflect on your day
- Make a gratitude list
- Use guided prompts for self-discovery
If you need inspiration, grab my FREE 50 Journaling Prompts for Self-Discovery!
Journaling is the key to getting to know yourself on a deeper level. So, make sure to make some time during your day to sit down and reflect.
Maybe you won’t see immediate results, but sooner or later you’ll notice that something has changed in you – that’s the power of journaling!
2. Start meditating
Winter is the perfect time to slow down.
Starting a meditation practice will help you in many ways. Meditation helps:
- Boost focus
- Reduce stress
- Shift your perspective
- Take control of negative thoughts and feelings
Meditating is simple, but not easy.
It’s quite simple because you only need to sit or lie down, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing.
It’s not easy, though, because we’re not used to being aware of our thoughts – which come at train speed.
In the beginning, you can do guided meditation following a video on YouTube or getting the Calm or Headspace apps.
It will take you some time to be okay with what’s going on in your mind and start feeling in control of your thoughts, rather than the other way around. But, with enough patience and determination, you’ll gain better control of your thoughts and emotions.
3. Get into reading
Is there anything better than curling up near the fire, sipping a warm drink, and reading a good book?
This winter, pick up the daily habit of reading – it will make your life less boring!
Whether in the morning, after work, or right before going to bed – this is your sign to some reading done!

4. Try yoga
Yoga is one of the best indoor hobbies for winter because it:
- Doesn’t make you sweat
- Requires minimal equipment (just a mat, or even a towel)
- Is a low-impact but high-result type of workout
You can practice at home, either on your own or with a guided YouTube video. Personally, my 3 favorite yoga channels are:
Or join a local gym class if you want the social aspect too.
5. Get artistic
Let your inner child come out and have fun! This winter, get artistic by picking a hobby that lets your creativity flow.
Some of the most creative indoor hobbies to do in winter include:
- Painting by numbers
- Watercoloring
- Coloring
- Scrapbooking
- Painting on canvas
- Jewelry making
- Knitting or crocheting
Try them all or stick to the ones you know you love the most – these hobbies are perfect for keeping you entertained during those long winter days.
6. Experiment in the kitchen
Why not use the winter months to improve your cooking or baking skills?
Try:
- New recipes on your own
- Enrolling in a cooking class
- Hosting small dinner parties
It’s a creative and rewarding hobby — after all, you get to enjoy the results! 😉

7. Learn something new
One of the most underrated indoor winter hobbies is learning. Now more than ever, learning is accessible and affordable to everyone.
Whether you want to learn:
- A new language
- Coding
- Video editing
- How to play an instrument
You now can – and just in one click!
Some of the best learning platforms are:
- Skillshare
- Udemy
- LinkedIn Learning
- Coursera
- Duolingo
8. Start a side hustle
You can make something productive out of your free time by starting a side hustle.
Maybe there’s always been a business you’ve wanted to start, a course you’ve wanted to launch, or a product you’ve wanted to create…
This is your sign to make it happen, this winter!

9. Have fun with board games
It’s all fun and games with board games 😉 …(LOL)
There’s no shame in going the old-fashioned way and spending the night playing Monopoli, Cluedo, Taboo, or The Game Of Life.
Get your family together or invite some friends over, have something to eat and drink, and get ready to have as much fun as when you were just a kid!
10. Create a vision board and manifest
Finally, one of the best indoor hobbies to do this winter (for all the manifestation girlies like me) is making vision boards!
Vision boards are a great tool to help you manifest the life of your dreams!
If you don’t know where to start, you can read “How to Create the Most Perfect Vision Board”.
It’s only delulu until it becomes truelulu 😉
