Why Consistent Blogging Is Essential for Success?

Before we dig into the ‘nitty-gritty’ of the article, it’s important that you fully understand why consistency is the key element to successful blogging!

I mean, it’s no secret that consistency is the most determining factor in one personal life’s successes.

We’re all aware that the majority of the most highly successful people on the planet became so great in what they do because…well, they kept doing it. Day after day.

The trick to becoming consistent with something is to not rely on motivation but on discipline.

Self-discipline is doing what needs to be done, even when you don’t want to do it”

When applying discipline to blogging, there are a few reasons why being consistent with your blog is going to increase your rate of success. For example:

  • Consistently showing up will make you trustworthy and reliable in your readers’ eyes
  • Consistency will increase your blog’s authority, as Google and other search engines will consider you a relevant source of information
  • Consistently publishing high-quality content will help you generate more traffic, allowing you to reach your blogging goals

5 Tips to Stay Consistent with Blogging

So, now that you’re aware of the importance of consistency – both in your audience’s and search engines’ eyes -, it’s time to finally learn the 5 secrets that will help you stay on track with your blogging journey!

SET BLOGGING GOALS

If you lack clarity in the first place, how do you expect to build consistency?

Not having a clear vision, a long-term strategy, and specific objectives to pursue are some of the common reasons why so many bloggers give up (almost) immediately.

They feel discouraged because they don’t see any progress but, at the same time, they don’t know exactly what they’re working towards…

It becomes a vicious cycle: the lack of clarity makes it hard to be consistent, and a lack of consistency leads to no results – but they didn’t know what results they were hoping to get in the first place!

That’s why the first crucial step to being more consistent with your blog is to set clear blogging goals.

The 4 stages of blogging

Blogging – like any other business – has different stages.

What stage are you currently in?

  • Initial stage -> You’re building your solid foundations to run a successful blog in the long term
  • Awareness stage -> You want to attract as many readers as you can to your blog
  • Creation stage -> You’re ideating and developing something to offer to your audience
  • Selling stage -> You’re actively looking for ways to expand your business

Each stage has its different goals.

So, what are yours?

Once you identify where you’re currently at with your blog, you’ll have a better understanding of what you should be focusing on.

For example, in the initial stage, you want to focus on creating a high number of high-quality blog posts to provide added value and knowledge to your readers.

In the awareness stage, you’ll focus on promoting your business on social media and other platforms.

Whereas, in the creation stage, you’ll focus more inward: the goal is to come up with great ideas and a great offer to give your audience in the future.

Lastly, if you’re in the selling stage, you want to focus on networking to get partnerships and brand deals and, in general, just put yourself out there to reach your ideal customers.

Defining what you’re working towards helps you ensure you focus on what’s important.

So, which blogging stage are you at and what are your goals?

DEFINE YOUR DELIVERABLES

When setting your blogging goals, it’s important to remember that: the more specific you are, the better!

The secret to being consistent with blogging is to have a clear definition of what should be done.

After setting your goals, you need to decide how you’re going to measure your progress.

How are you going to keep track of what you should focus on?

It’s no surprise that the second step you must take is to define your deliverables!

A deliverable is a concrete result. A tangible outcome.

Let’s say you’re in the initial stage of your blogging journey, and your goal is to create great content on a consistent basis. Awesome!

What does that mean, in terms of deliverables?

To successfully run my blog, for example, I know that every single week I am expected to:

  • Publish a new article every Monday
  • Send an email to my newsletter every Monday
  • Publish 1 new pin on Pinterest every day
  • Post 1 Instagram story every day
  • Publish 2 reels and 1 graphic on Instagram per week

These are the deliverables I set for my blog, as I’m trying to establish my authority in the personal development world and grow my audience.

Knowing exactly what needs to be delivered makes it extremely easy to monitor whether I am on track with my blogging goals or not.

What are your expected deliverables?

BE REALISTIC WITH YOUR TIME

If it’s true we all have 24 hours a day, it’s also true that the way we decide to spend our time depends on us and us only.

As you’re jotting down your goals and deliverables, there’s one essential thing to keep in mind: your time – and focus and energy, if I might add – is limited!

One of the keys to being consistent with blogging is to be realistic with your time.

How much time in a day, and in a week, can you spend actually working on your blog?

For me, being a college student while running this blog on the side, what I’m doing right now is perfect to make me stay consistent without feeling overwhelmed.

You have to find the right balance.

Perhaps you’re a student like me, or work full-time, or have a family, so your blog is something you nurture on the side – when you have sporadic moments of free time.

That’s okay!

There’s only so much you can do in a day!

Be realistic with your time and then plan accordingly to tackle your blogging goals.

DEVELOP A CONTENT PLAN STRATEGY

You guessed it: the next step to blogging consistently is to develop a content plan strategy!

If you’ve followed all previous steps, you now should know:

  • Which stage your blog is at
  • What your blogging goals are
  • What your expected deliverables are
  • How much time you actually have

So, with all this information, you’re now ready to create a content plan to ensure you stay on top of everything!

Why is that so important?

Well, a good content strategy will allow you to:

  • Plan your content in advance
  • Show up consistently when you have little or no time
  • Assess if you’re aligned with your goals and vision
  • Easily monitor your progress
  • Free up some of your time! (I mean, who doesn’t want that?!)

Personally, the two tools that I use to stay on track with my blog are Notion and Trello.

On Notion, I like planning out my future posts for Instagram using a free social media calendar template.

For brainstorming new blog post ideas and planning out my articles, instead, I like using Trello.

Feel free to give them a try, or to use any other digital or physical planning system that will help you stay consistent.

FOLLOW INSPIRATIONAL PEOPLE

Blogging can feel like a lonely journey – especially in the early stages.

Some days, discouragement will have the best on you and you won’t see the point of keep posting when no one seems to care.

Whenever that happens, whenever you’re so close to just giving it all up – here’s my best advice to stay motivated: follow people who inspire you!

If your close circle is made up of people who couldn’t be more distant from the blogger lifestyle, it will feel like you will never succeed.

That’s why you must also surround yourself with people who show you what’s possible to achieve – if you only commit and stay consistent for long enough.

Some of the best sources of inspiration that have helped me so much in overcoming those moments of doubt and discouragement – and so helped me in staying consistent with blogging are:

  • Sophia Lee – A fellow blogger who started just like me (from her college dorm) and now runs a 6-figures blog!
  • Mel Robbins – Her motivational words always give me the “right push” to keep chasing my dreams…
  • Modern Millie – She was able to turn her passion for social media into a full-time job, allowing her to say “bye-bye” to her 9-5
  • The Bliss Bean – Beatrice is a college student and YouTuber who’s always on top of everything. You can’t feel unmotivated after watching her videos!

So, the last secret to being consistent with blogging is to create a solid net of inspiring sources to look up to whenever you want to give it all up.

Because trust me: whether you like it or not, those moments will come. You can’t change that.

What you can do, though, is decide how you’re going to react back.

What I like reminding myself is: if they were able to do it, so can I!

So, who inspires you the most to keep chasing your dreams? Find your circle and…keep going!

That brings us to the end of this article…

Hopefully, by now, you have a clear picture of what the 5 secrets to being consistent with blogging are!

You got this!
